Grossmann gets his grant for the research proposal 'A Technology for the Generation of Stable Enzymes', about the new technology INCYPRO. Tom Grossmann, Marta Pelay-Gimeno and Sven Hennig published last summer about INCYPRO in the scientific journal Angewandte Chemie. The research is about a new method to stabilize enzymes to increase their tolerance to thermal and chemical stresses.
The ERC (European Research Council: the European science funding agency) has awarded 60 scientists, divided over Europe, this scholarship worth € 150.000. Seven of them are Dutch scientists; Tom Grossmann is the only laureate working at the VU. Grossmann has been affiliated with the VU since 1 January 2016.
