On 1 January 2018, Felix Paulussen (DE) will join AIMMS as the fourth STAR PLUS candidate. After a thorough selection procedure in the second call for applications, Felix will start his research within the group of Tom Grossmann (Organic and Peptide Chemistry), with additional AIMMS supervisors Joen Luirink (Molecular Microbiology) and Daan Geerke (Molecular Toxicology).
The MSCA Cofund was granted for four PhD positions, but after the first call for applications, which ended in June ’17, only three positions were filled. In consultation with the EU funding agency, the AIMMS Management opened an additional shortened call to attract a fourth PhD candidate.
In this second Call, six excellent candidates provided AIMMS with a short Research proposal and were invited for an online interview. After a final interview including a more extensive presentation of their proposal, the AIMMS Management concluded that Felix Paulussen fulfilled the excellence criteria as set out in the Call for Applications the best.
Felix Paulussen (DE): Design of peptide-derived antibiotics that block interactions between bacterial cell division proteins (Main supervisor: Tom Grossmann, and additional AIMMS supervisors Joen Luirink and Daan Geerke).
